(PETERSEN MEDIA)- After years of watching older brother, Justin Sanders, make a name for himself in the state of California wheeling a sprint car, Rickey Sanders finally got the itch to go racing himself, and picked up his first Super 600 Micro win on Saturday night in just his fourth start in the division.

Not having the desire to race while growing up, the younger Sanders brother got interested as many youngsters do, by playing the I-Racing Video game. Finding success in I-Racing, Sanders decided he wanted to try the real thing in 2018.

Running the restricted class, the then 15-year-old would get his feet wet and find some success as he was able to record a couple of podium. Over the offseason, the Sanders family made the decision to move into the Super 600 class, and put together a very nice car.

In just his third ever start in the division, 16 year old Sanders was able score his first podium, as he charged from eighth to pick up a second place finish at Dixon Speedway.

This past Saturday night, it all came together for the Aromas, CA pilot as he again found himself back in the eighth position, as was able to carve his way through the field and record his first career Super 600 win in what was just his fourth start with the class.

As Sanders continues to runt he class this year, the plan is to progress him into a sprint car during the Summer months in 2020.
