PETERSEN MEDIA: Still acclimating to a new DRC chassis he put together prior to the big weekend at Eldora Speedway, Robert Ballou was able to pick up a trio of Top-Five’s in four races with his worst finish being a seventh at Terre Haute Action Track on Wednesday night.

“I think we are getting our car better and better nightly,” Robert Ballou said, “Friday night I think we had the car to win the race but I just didn’t get the job done. Things are going well right now and I can’t wait to get back into victory lane.

An extremely busy week of racing for ‘The Madman’ kicked off Wednesday night as he met up with the USAC National Sprint Car Series to take part in the Tony Hullman Classic at Terre Haute Action track.

With 23 drivers checked in at the ½ mile speedway, Ballou timed the Dicknson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards backed No. 12 entry in 12th quickest in time trials before running second in his heat race to Justin Grant.

On an extremely slick and narrow racing surface, Ballou would have his work cut out for him as he lined up 11th on the starting grid. With passing tough on Wednesday night, Ballou was able to make a little head way. Fight his way inside the Top-10, Ballou would close his night out with a seventh place finish.

Friday night saw the Rocklin, CA driver check in at Bloomington Speedway. Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Ballou would have his elbows up on the ¼ mile as he raced to the heat race win.

Lining up in the second row of the feature event, Ballou would spend his night up front fighting for his first feature event win of the season. In a spirited battle, Ballou would come up just short and finish second in a race paying homage to Josh Burton.

Saturday night Ballou and company made the trip to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN where he would line up in the second row of his heat race.

Battling with Shane Cockrum, and Carson Short in the heat, Ballou would finish third which placed him in the 11th starting position for the finale. Getting off to a great start, Ballou would quickly jump into the Top-Five as it was apparent he had a strong piece underneath him.

Battling up front, a near miss saw him get sideways and nearly stall his car out, but he would somehow keep it under power as he lost a few spots on the track. Able to get back by John Stanbrough and Dave Darland, Ballou would close his Saturday night out with a fourth place finish.

Sunday night would bring an end to a busy Memorial Day Weekend as the Robert Ballou Motorsports team checked into Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.

Taking the green flag from the fourth starting spot during heat race No. 1, Ballou would continue a very strong weekend that saw him grab the win convincingly and put his entry on the pole for the feature event.

Going too far on his adjustment before the feature, Ballou would end up fighting a tight racecar in the feature event. Slipping back to second on the start, Ballou would find himself chasing after Chase Stockon for the duration of the event.

Getting close to Stockon a few times, Ballou had nothing for the leader and closed his weekend out with his third consecutive Top-Five finish.

“We had a chance to grab a couple of wins, but just weren’t quite good enough,” Ballou said. “It does feel great to get all of our great partners back up front but I can promise you were not satisfied until we start picking up some wins.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.

ON TAP: As of now Ballou is scheduled to return to action when the USAC Natioanl Sprint Car Series invades I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE on Friday night and the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA on Saturday night.
