Ryan Robinson 8th at Cotton Classic as He Continues to Lead SCCT Point Standings

PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he would slip back late in Friday night’s feature event, Ryan Robinson had a very strong night going in Hanford, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and continues to sit atop the point standings as the series heads to its penultimate event of the season on Saturday in Petaluma, CA.

“We had the car to beat early in the night, which is always really good for confidence,” Ryan Robinson said. “Unfortunately, we kind of missed our set up in the feature event and we slipped back to eighth, but in the big picture it was still a good night.”

With the track having timing and scoring loop issues prior to time trials, SCCT officials made the decision to forego time trials and run the Chili Bowl/ASCS draw show format with heat races and qualifiers.

Lining up fourth in his heat race, Robinson would put the field on high alert early on this night as he made quick work aboard the Mako Farms, Inc./LP Holdings/RPI backed No. 14w machine and picked up the heat race win.

Gridding the field from sixth in his qualifier, Robinson would continue to flex his muscle as he gained more passing points and powered is way to a second place finish, making him the night’s high point earner and putting his mount on the pole.

Searching for another win on the 2021 season, and a chance to extend his series points lead, Robinson would get the initial jump, however Dominic Scelzi would keep Robinson honest and drop Robinson to second at the flag stand to complete the opening lap.

Running second, Robinson would find himself battling with the likes of Shane Golobic and DJ Netto, though would keep them at bay.

At the race’s halfway point, Golobic would get by Robinson to drop him back to third, before Netto got by a lap later to push him back to fourth.

After a couple of late cautions and restarts, Robinson would lose a couple of more positions, as he fell back to eighth where he would go on to finish.

“We were pretty good early in the feature, but over the course of the race it was tough to make grip and we lost a few spots,” Robinson said. “Still a fun night, and thanks to Todd and everyone for their support.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms, Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision, Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their support in 2021!

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-22, Wins-1, Top 5’s-9, Top 10’s-19

ON TAP: Robinson and the Weiher Racing team return to action on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA for another night of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action.
