Ryan Robinson 8th in Hanford After Tulare DNF

PETERSEN MEDIA: Ryan Robinson and the Weiher Racing team recovered nicely on Saturday night. Getting caught up in someone else’s accident on Friday in Tulare, Robinson and company worked through day Saturday making repairs and came away with an eighth-place finish during the Peter Murphy Classic finale in Hanford, CA.

“Friday night we made the decision to switch to the ‘H’ tire and we had some early struggles,” Robinson said. “We found a pretty good balance and raced into the feature only to get caught up with a flipping car and end our night.”

Timing the Mako Farms Inc./LP Holdings/Roseville Precision Inc. backed no. 14w in fifth fastest in his group in Tulare, CA, Robinson would just miss the heat race inversion and he lined up in the third row of his heat race.

Losing a valuable position in his heat, Robinson would slip back to sixth and that would force him into the 15-lap ‘B’ where he took the green flag from the pole.

Despite several stoppages that led to double-file restarts, Robinson left the field in his wake as he won the semi with ease and transferred into the 30-lap feature event.

From the 21st starting position, Robinson began working his way through the field. Getting into 15th, Robinson would find himself in 14th for a lap 9 restart.

The restart would be devastating for Robinson’s night however as a flipping Chase Majdic made contact with Robinson’s entry and frame damage resulted in a DNF.

Working through Saturday to make repairs for Saturday’s finale in Hanford, CA, Robinson got off to a great start as he timed in fastest in his qualifying group and ended up second overall among the 40 cars checked in.

Finishing third in his heat race, Robinson transferred into the feature event as well as into the Pole Shuffle where his fifth-place finish put him in the third row to start the 30-lap Peter Murphy Classic feature event.

Slipping back a few positions in the early goings for the feature, Robinson could not seem to get going as he worked inside the Top-10.

When the feature event came to a close, Robinson capped his weekend off with an eighth-place finish.

“Really want to thank Todd and the guys for their hard work all weekend,” Robinson said. “The bad luck on Friday led to a long day Saturday, but we rebounded well and had really good speed.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Pettibone Builders, Sipes CC, The Holman Family, Square Tires, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-4

ON TAP: Robinson and the Weiher Racing team will be idle the next couple of weeks before resuming their SCCT slate on May 28th in Stockton, CA and May 29th in Marysville, CA.
