Sean Becker Looks Forward to Johnny Key Classic Following Tough Week

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting in two more nights of racing over the last week with both Monhoff Racing and Van Lare Motorsports, Sean Becker would have one of those weeks that makes a driver look forward to getting to their next race as soon as possible. Battling for the lead late in Wednesday's feature at Marysville Raceway Becker would get into the turn four wall, while a part failure during time trials on Friday night would see his time get disallowed as he bypassed the scales and went straight to his pit to diagnose the issue.

“Wednesday night I made a mistake pushing too hard going for the win, and on Friday night we unfortunately had a part failure in qualifying, but I went to the trailer first to diagnose the problem and skipped the scales and it cost us dearly.”

Battling a power steering issue in time trials, Becker would get back to the trailer and make the mistake of by passing the scales which disallowed his qualifying time and lined him up at the tail end of his heat race.

Lining up eighth in his heat, Becker would pick up a couple of positions and finish sixth, but it would not be good enough to transfer into the feature, so he was forced into the semi where he again had to tag the rear of the field.

Taking the green from, the 16th starting position in the 12-lap ‘B’, Becker had his sights set on one of the six transfer positions up for grabs. In a fast-paced semi, Becker would give it his all as he clawed his way forward, but just came up short as he took the checkered flag with an eighth-place finish and brough his night to an end.

Wednesday night, Becker and Monhoff Racing checked in to Marysville Raceway for another round of weekly action at the track, and Becker kicked the night off by timing the new looks No. 35 machine in fourth fastest in time trials.

Picking up a third-place finish in heat race action, ‘The Shark’ moved into the feature event where he would quickly work into the third position as he chased after Andy Forsberg and Blake Carrick.

Moving into the second position on the 14th lap, Becker would close in on the leader, however third running Tanner Carrick would give Becker fits for the runner up position.

Slipping back to third on the 19th lap, Becker would shadow Tanner Carrick as they battled hard through traffic. On the 23rd lap, Becker would push the limits a little too far and it would result in him getting into the wall in turns three and four bringing his night to an end just two laps shy of the finish.

“These mental mistakes keep costing my teams the finishes they deserve,” Becker added. “I need to do everything in my power to rectify that moving forward.”

Becker and Monhoff Racing would like to thank LRB, and Triple X Race Co. for their continued support.

Becker and Van Lare Motorsports would like to thank Pro Aggregate, All About Fire Protection, Bianchi Farms, Shark Racing Engines, CCI, Van Lare Steering Repair, and Triple X Race Co. for their support in 2020.
