Sean Becker Rallies from Tail to Finish 11th with KWS at Petaluma Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- After being involved in an opening lap pile up on Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway, Sean Becker would rally from the tail and finish 11th during what would turn into a nonstop feature event with the King of the West Series.

“It was unfortunate to get caught up in the pile up at the start,” Sean Becker said. “We were in a good position to battle up front, but it just didn’t play out in our favor.”

Getting back to action with the King of the West/NARC Series, Becker would time the Vertullo Motorsports mount in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Picking up a fourth-place finish in heat race competition, ‘The Shark’ would miss out on the Dash and would find himself ninth on the starting grid for the 30-lap feature event.

When the race went green, chaos would ensue up front, and with nowhere to go ninth starting Becker would be on the of the drivers caught up in the action and be forced into the work area.

Able to make repairs, Becker would rejoin the field from the tail end. When the green flag flew for the second time it was on as the next 30-lap would rattle off without interruption.

Working his way forward during the quick show, Becker would make up some of the lost positions as he would rally back to an 11th place finish when the checkered flag was displayed to the field.

Looking to rebound at Placerville Speedway on Sunday night in 360ci action, the Roseville, CA driver would get timed in 11th fastest in his qualifying group with a total of 36 cars on hand.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, Becker would be forced into the ‘B’, however a win in the semi transferred the veteran driver into the 25-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from 16th, Becker would go to work on the thick cushion that had built up around the ¼ mile bullring. With the bottom groove extremely slick, it would be tough to make moves with most of the field working up top.

When the dust settled on the Sunday night feature, Becker would take the checkered flag with a 14th place finish.

“We struggled in qualifying on Sunday and it put us in a pretty difficult spot all night long,” Becker added. “Still, I need to do a better job of getting through the field no matter where we start. Thanks to everyone at Vertullo Motorsports for their continued support and hard work.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-20, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 9

ON TAP: Becker will return to action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Sunday night at Marysville Raceway with Monhoff Racing.
