PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday in Watsonville, CA Sean Watts had a great run going until the sun went down. Having a fast car through all preliminary action, Watts seemed to struggle in the feature event as he would slip back to finish 13th.

“Well it was kind of a bittersweet night,” Sean Watts said “Things were going our way, we had a fast car, and then we just fell off in the feature event. I have a great group behind and we are definitely getting there.”

Watts kicked off the 8th Annual HK Classic by timing the Grizzly Coolers/Schaeffer Racing Oil/Rolfe Construction backed No. 98 machine seventh quickest with 31 cars checked into the pit area.

Picking up a second place finish in heat race to Tanner Thorson, Watts would find himself with just enough points to sneak into the Dash where he would race his way to the win and lead the field to green for the 30-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, the Atwater, CA driver would not get off to a great start as he would quickly drop back to fifth as the field spread out around the ¼ mile bullring.

Able to keep his machine inside the Top-10 much of the night, Watts would get collected with another driver on the 20th lap and would be forced to the back of the pack where he would restart 17th.

From the tail end of the field, Watts would make up a few positions during the race’s final 10 circuits as he closed his night out with a 13th place finish.

“It was great to win our first Dash and put ourselves in a great spot,” Watts said. “Now we will work on capitalizing on those spots and putting it all together. We will get there I know that.”

Sean and the Watts Rolfe Speed-Sports team would like to thank Grizzly Coolers, Schaeffer Racing Oil, Rolfe Construction, Billet America, Darrel Varni Electric, Kaeding Performance, Shannon Pumps, Stealth Homes, Tee’s and Tops, Team Simpson, Kistler Racing Engines, and Stan Yockey Motorsports for their continued support.
