PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday night, Shawn Wright and his Wright Motorsports team checked in at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA to take on the World of Outlaws. After being involved in an early wreck in the B Main, Wright would end up in the feature event and score an 18th place finish with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt”.
“The first lap of the B we got into a wreck, and got taken out,” Wright said. “We were the first alternate and another car didn’t make the call, and we ended up tagging the rear at the last minute.”
Focused on fixing their car and moving along to the next race, Wright and his team thrashed to get ready for the nights’ feature event after learning they had a spot if they wanted it.
With little time to make adjustments, Wright was able to make the call, as he lined up in the 12th row for the 35-lap race on an extremely slick surface. Doing what he could aboard his Wright Process Systems/A.R.T./Wilwood backed No. 99 machine, Wright was able to slowly work his way forward and pick up positions.
The end of the race saw Wright racing with Kraig Kinser and Scott Parker, and with the checkered flag in the air, the Lodi, CA native turned Tulare, CA resident crossed the finish line with an 18th place finish.
“After the B, we were getting the car loaded up, and the officials came over and let us know we had a spot in the show as the first alternate, so we quickly began making repairs that we could, and were unable to make adjustments to the car,” he said. “Starting at the tail end of the field, we just made laps, and were able to pick up some spots.”
