PETERSEN MEDIA: 2017 Placerville Speedway Champion, Steven Tiner, persevered on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway as he overcame a tough qualifying effort to charge from 14th to finish seventh during the track’s second points event of the season.

“We had a really fast car in the feature, it just got a little narrow at the end of the race and we ran out of time,” Steven Tiner said. “We went out early to time in and had a stumble, so that was tough, but my guys did a great job of giving me a really racy STR No. 94”

Timing the Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Fisher Racing Engines backed No. 94 entry in 14th quickest in qualifying time trials, Tiner would have his work cut out for himself in his heat race.

Lining up in the third row, Tiner would battle with Andy Forsberg much of the race. Finishing fourth, the Visalia, CA pilot would move into the feature event where he would find himself back in the 14th starting position.

When the race came to life, Tiner was very sporty from the back of the pack. Quickly working his way forward, Tiner would also take advantage of several double file restarts to gain track position.

Finding himself well inside the Top-10, Tiner would again find himself chasing after And Forsberg for the sixth position as he was now up into seventh. Continuing to battle with a fellow track champion, Tiner would be unable to get the position as he closed his Saturday night out with a Top-10 finish by way of his seventh place effort.

“Looking at the results we were one of the few cars that was able to make up a ton of ground so that was a good thing,” Tiner said. “Not being in the redraw and qualifying poorly really makes these shows tough. Thanks to my guys and my backers for all of their help.”

Steven and his Steven Tiner Racing team would like to thank Larry Davis Farms, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, FSR, XYZ Machine, DMI, Dan Olson Race Products, HRP, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, B&B Racing Engines, ART, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Schoenfeld, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-7, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Tiner will return to action on Friday May 18th in Tulare, CA during the opening night of the Peter Murphy Classic.
