PETERSEN MEDIA- Joe Stornetta and the Lathrop Motorsports team continue to show improvement week after week. After being hounded with mechanical issues, Stornetta was able to pick up a ninth place finish during a rare Friday night show at the Petaluma Speedway.

“It was extremely important for us to finish on Friday night, and we were happy with the direction we are heading,” Stornetta added. “We have had some issues over the last few races, but we are all feeling pretty good after Friday’s show.”

Timing in 9th fastest on Friday night, the Santa Rosa, CA driver would line up on the pole of his heat race. With the outside line being the preferred line, Stornetta would slip back to third before he could get to the top heading into turns three and four.

Settling for a third place finish, Stornetta would move into the feature event where he gridded the field from the sixth row. On a track that was very tricky to get around, Stornetta was patient and able to move his way forward.

A rough surface made things dicey at times, but Stornetta was able to keep his nose clean, as he tip-toed around the Petaluma Speedway surface to capture a ninth place finish and him and his team continue to gel and get things ironed out.

“It wasn’t a perfect night, but it was one of our best night’s together,” he added. “We fought some handling issues in the feature event, but overall we were happy with how we ran. I really have to thank this team for giving me the chance to run with the wing, and I am confident we will get everything in order this Summer.”

Joe Stornetta would like to thank JPS Trucking, The Geide Family, OK Tire Store, iWear Motorsports, Parmeter General Engineering Service, X Winery, Bergin Glass, LJ’s Speed & Machine Shop, Rick Lawley Trucking, Black Hawk Body Shop, and The Holman Family for their support.

ON TAP: Stornetta will climb aboard his Joe Stornetta No. 6 machine on Saturday night as the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos comes back to life at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
