PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to action with the Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos on Saturday night, Joe Stornetta would have a part failure knock him out of competition on the 10th lap.
“It was disappointing to have something break while running third on Saturday night,’ Stornetta said. “When you’re point racing you hate to have a night like that, but we have been really fast this year, so hopefully we can rebound with the series in a couple of weeks.”
With 22 cars on hand for the series’ fourth event of the season, Stornetta would get his JPS Trucking/Geide Family/OK Tire Store backed No. 6 machine timed in sixth fastest.
In heat race action, the Napa, CA pilot was able to make some moves as he worked his way into the third spot, before finishing fourth in the night’s Dash, which would put him in the second row of the feature event.
With the caution flag waiving after just one lap, Stornetta would hound Terry Schank, Jr for the third spot for a few laps as he worked around the high side of the 3/8 mile Stockton Dirt track.
Getting around Schank to take the third spot on the sixth lap, Stornetta would experience a part failure just a few laps later, and would pull his iWear Motorsports/Parmeter General Engineering Service/X Winery backed machine of the speedway, and take a DNF on the night.
“We had a really good run going, so I want to thank all of the people that help our team out, and continue to support us,” Stornetta added.
