PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way back to California to pilot the Tanner Carrick Racing No. 83T machine with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour over the weekend, Carrick would record a 12th place finish during night one of the Asparagus Cup.

“We fought some gremlins all weekend long, and I think Clark and the guys got all of the bugs worked out,” Tanner said. “The results weren’t what we wanted but I think we will be good moving forward.”

Friday night saw the Lincoln, CA product time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed machine in fourth quickest in his qualifying group, which was good enough to put him on the front row of his heat race.

An impressive performance in heat race competition saw him pick up the win by nearly a second over second place, and moved him into the High Sierra Industries Dash.

Finishing seventh in the Dash, Carrick would roll off the starting grid from the fourth row, on a track that was a little heavy and offered up some rough patches.

As the race came to life, Carrick would hold his own as he battled well inside the Top-10 on the Stockton Dirt Track. Despite numerous double-file restarts, the USAC National Midget Series star would continue to stand pact as he worked around the hooked up surface.

In the final green flag run, Carrick would give up a couple of positions as he did rebound to grab the 12th spot coming to the checkered flag.

Saturday night’s action saw Carrick land in a loaded qualifying group where he would time in seventh quickest. Running his heat against the same group, Carrick would battle with Mitchell Faccinto and Shane Golobic before finishing seventh and finding himself in the Saturday night ‘B’ Main.

Lining up 12th in the ‘B’, Carrick would have his elbows up as his machine came to life and he worked his way forward in a hurry. Battling with Jason Statler for the final transfer position, Carrick would make it exciting on the last lap, but came up just short and it would bring his weekend to an end.

“We hit on something there at the end of the night Saturday, and I think it helped us a lot,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to two more sprint car races this weekend.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
