Tim Kaeding 8th at Huset’s as Schedule Ramps Up With Lunstra Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Reuniting with Lunstra Motorsports for the first time since the High Bank Nationals, Tim Kaeding and company took part in Saturday’s All Star event at Knoxville Raceway where Kaeding pulled in early, as well as a Sunday night showdown at Huset’s Speedway where he charged from 17th to eight.

“It is always a lot of fun racing with these guys, and we had good speed despite not racing together for a month,” Kaeding said. “Saturday night we were good, but something felt off late in the race so I pulled in thinking we broke. Sunday we hurt an engine leading our heat race, put a fresh bullet in and charged from 17th to 8th in a very fast paced race.”

Looking to shake some rust off at Knoxville Raceway, TK and Lunstra Motorsports made the trip down to take on the All Star Circuit of Champions. With 51 cars checked into the pit area at the famed ½ mile, Kaeding timed the Acres Away Ag/First National Bank/Dammer Trucking backed No. 3 in 13th overall and third fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, TK’s third place finish locked him into the 25-lap feature event where he took the green flag form the 15th starting position.

Jumping into 13th when the race went green, Kaeding slowly worked his way towards the Top-10 as he battled some fierce competition. As he started to lose track position and fade through the field, TK opted to call it a night as he pulled back into the pit area to make sure nothing had failed on the Lunstra Motorsports entry as his night came to a close.

Making the trip back up to South Dakota, TK and company were set for Sunday night action at Huset’s Speedway.

Timing in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials, Kaeding lined up on the front row of his heat race. Getting the jump, Kaeding was strong out front but it was short lived. While leading, the San Jose, CA driver endured engine issues that forced him to come to a stop and head back to the pit area.

With the team able to make the change to a fresh engine, Kaeding was able to make the call for the 25-lap feature event as he took the green flag from the 17th starting position.

Getting his elbows up when the green lights flashed on, Kaeding put on a show as he worked around the high banked oval. Racing into 12th on the 10th lap, Kaeding continued to charge as he cracked the Top-10 on lap 18.

Though he had a strong car underneath him, time was not on his side. Continuing to get all he could Kaeding salvaged the night with an eighth-place finish.

“We have the speed, and our car is good, and it has us all excited about the next few weeks,” TK added. “Hopefully we can get the motor we hurt back and have a little piece of mind heading into Knoxville.”

The Lunstra Motorsports team would like to thank Acres Away Ag, First National Bank, Dammer Trucking, Beep Motorsports, Clark’s Custom Coatings, Ahrendt Designs, Valley Springs Body Shop, and Walker Performance Filtration
