PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the C&M Motorsports No. 7c at the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout at Placerville Speedway, Steven Tiner and team would have an eventful weekend that saw the team scratch from Friday’s event with engine issues, before a wild Saturday heat race saw Tiner try to make a bid to qualify for the ‘A’ after starting the night in the ‘C’.

“We were all bummed we had engine issues on Friday night that basically forced us to become spectators,” Steven Tiner said. “Saturday night, a mistake in the heat race forced us into the ‘C’, and I did everything I could to get us into the feature.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./PT Shocks/Swartz Diesel/Alturas Tires backed No. 7c in fourth quickest in his qualifying group, Tiner would line up on the pole of his heat race.

Getting into a battle for the lead, Tiner would get sucked into the back stretch hill where he would nearly go for a ride. Able to keep all four wheels on the ground, Tiner would endure some contact as he got back going and it would result in him spinning down the front stretch.

Finishing 10thin the wild heat, Tinder would find himself in the ‘C’ main. On the slick surface, Tiner would go to work and make the middle of the speedway work. Getting into a transfer, Tiner would actually pick up a couple extra positions as he grabbed the win.

Moving into the ‘B’ directly after the ‘C’, Tiner would continue to make the middle work as he began picking off cars left and right and rapidly approaching the transfer cars who were battling hard in front of him.

Getting to their rear bumper, an untimely caution flew and halted Tiner’s progress. The final laps, Tiner would actually lose a spot as he tried to find a way into the feature, but his night would come to a close with a seventh place finish in the semi.

“We all had high hopes for this weekend,” Tiner said. “Cody and Mandi have had a really good car at Placerville all year long, and I was hoping to end the season up there on a high note for them. We had some fun, but I wish I could have ran a little better for their team. I do have to thank them for giving me a great shot at a track that I love.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
