PETERSEN MEDIA- With the curtain coming down on the Placerville Speedway weekly point season, Tony Gualda and the C&M Motorsports team ran well as the Hollister, CA driver worked his way forward to finish sixth.

“We didn’t get timed in too well, and that kind of put us back in the feature event,” Tony Gualda said. “Luckily, the RMI team did a great job on the surface, and Cody and Darin gave me a great car and we were able to put together a really good run.”

Timing the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Pacific Highway Rentals backed No. 7c machine in 16th fastest in qualifying time trials, Gualda would line up on the front row of his heat race.

Getting pinched down on the bottom of the speedway when the heat came to life, Gualda admitted to not being aggressive enough on the start and he slipped back to third. Finishing third, Gulada would transfer directly into the 25-lap feature event but would start deep in the field as he relied on his qualifying time.

Gridding the field from the 16th starting position, Gualda was able to move around on a race Placerville Speedway surface. Working into the 14th position on the fifth lap, Gualda continued a big run he had as he took the 12th spot one lap later.

Continuing to race his way through the field, Gualda would surge up to 11th on the eighth lap but dropped back to 12th a lap later.

As the laps clicked off, the Moorefield Construction/PT Shocks/51 Fifty Energy Drink machine got stronger. Jumped up to ninth on a restart, Gualda continued on as he moved into seventh on the 14th lap.

Moving into the top-five on the 20th lap, Gualda would hook up in a very entertaining battle with Greg DeCaires. Going back and forth with the veteran driver, Gualda would come up a little short on their battle as he took the checkered with a sixth place finish.

“At the end of the race we got to battling with Greg DeCaires which was really fun,” Gualda noted. “I think we found something there that will help us with the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout this weekend, and we are all really looking forward to that.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
