PETERSEN MEDIA- Harli White was pleased with her weekend. After a couple of weeks of struggles, the Lindsay, OK driver had a nice weekend that saw her pick up finishes of fourth and second place.
“It was a great weekend overall,” White said. “I think we finally have a good handle on a basic set up and starting point, and it was great to be in the mix both nights.”
Friday night saw the Harli White Racing team check in at the Lubbock Speedway with the ASCS Lone Star Region. Lining up third in her heat race, White was able to maintain her position, and finish in the third spot, and by doing so, she was eligible for the redraw.
Pulling the seven pill, White lined her Lucas Oil/MVT/PXP Racewear entry up in the fourth row on the extremely slick and abrasive track. When the race came to life, White showed she had a strong car as he was able to carve her way to the front, as the track began taking rubber.
White got into the second spot during the race’s closing laps, she closed in on race leader, Jake Mertens, and began challenging for the top spot.
With the track taking a ton of rubber by this point, passing was very tough, and though she tried everything she could, she would end up with a second place finish.
Saturday night saw White and company follow the ASCS Lone Star Region to the Abilene Speedway.
Lining up fifth in heat race action, White was able to gain a position, and some all important passing points, as she finished in the fourth spot, and again earned a spot in the evening’s redraw.
Pulling a six, White lined up in the third row of the speedway, and on this night, the rubber came a little earlier in the night, and passing was at a premium much of the race, but White was able to do some moving, and shaking, as she worked her way into the fifth spot, claiming her second Top-Five of the weekend.
“I really cannot complain about the weekend we had after the way the last month has gone,” she added. “Everyone has been working so hard to find something to build on, and this was definitely a step in the right direction.”
