PETERSEN MEDIA- Bolting his 410ci power plant in his Wright Motorsports No. 99 machine over the weekend, Shawn Wright battled the World of Outlaws as they invaded the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA.
“I struggled getting used to the 410ci engine again, but I seemed to get a little more comfortable each time we hit the track,” Wright said.
Saturday night saw Wright time his Wright Process Systems/A.R.T./Willwood machine 37th fastest, before finishing ninth in his heat race.
Lining up third in the night’s C Main event, Wright was able to get by Michael Faccinto in the early stages of the race, and fend him off for the final transfer position, and Wright would move into the night’s B Main event.
Lining up 16th in the B Main, Wright would patiently work the slicked off Thunderbowl surface, as he gained a few positions. When the checkered flew on the race, Wright would finish in the 12th spot.
Friday night saw Wright again in the C Main event, but on the second lap, contact from another driver sent him spinning, and he was forced to start at the tail end of the field.
Though he wouldn’t make it back to a transfer position, Wright would make it back up to a sixth place finish.
“We kept making changes all weekend long to try and get it better,” he added. “I really have to thank everyone who helps us out.”
