Rod Gross Motorsports and Tanner Thorson Welcome JST Motorsports Back as Primary Sponsor for 2026

PETERSEN MEDIA: Set to get their 2026 kicked off on Thursday night in Las Vegas, NV, Tanner Thorson and the Rod Gross Motorsports team are eager to kick off their third season on the High Limit Racing Tour, and are excited to again have JST Motorsports on their side as the team’s primary sponsor.

“I am really excited for year three on the road with High Limit Racing, and I am coming into the season as confident and the most prepared as I have ever been since moving into winged sprint cars,” Tanner Thorson said. “Everyone associated with this Rod Gross Motorsports team has put in so much over the years, and we are all eager to get the season going. I am excited to continue to work with Stevie Smith, and he teaches me so much. This whole team works so well together, and I am fortunate to be in this position.”

After joining forces and welcoming Jason and Shantel Tessier (JST Motorsports) on board as the team’s primary partner in 2025, the family is back in 2026 as they look to continue to build a solid foundation with Thorson and team.

“To have the Tessier family back on board with us is great,” Thorson said. “They are so passionate about racing, and they are a family that is great for motorsports. It has been great building a relationship with them over the year, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in 2026 and beyond.”

For the Tessier family, they too are excited for another year with Rod Gross Motorsports.

“We were excited to get involved with Tanner (Thorson), RGM, and High Limit Racing heading into 2025, and we’re even more excited to back with the team in 2026, for a multitude of reasons,” Jason Tessier said. “With how the season ended, we both feel like the team heads into the year on a high note, and we truly feel like that end of the year momentum will carry over into the start of this season. We are also excited to see how the cross over between Shantel’s novels and the motorsports community continues to grow. Tanner talked about how massive it was in 2025 in a recent interview, and he absolutely was not exaggerating, it truly has been an incredible partnership.”

2025 was a solid step for the RGM team. In the hunt for the High Limit Mid Week Championship through the mini-series’ final race, Thorson and company ended up fourth in the standings, and were fifth overall in High Limit points.

Thorson had a very strong season that saw him pick up a pair of wins with the series to go along with 12 total Top-5’s  and 29 Top-10’s in 50 High Limit events.

“I am very pleased with how our team has grown over the first two years, and I can’t wait to see how things go for Tanner and the guys in year three,” Team Owner Rod Gross said. “To have Jason and Shantel Tessier back on board with us is very exciting, and in fact we are already busy working towards the future.”

Before the 2025 season, the Tessier family had an interest in Sprint Car ownership, but after discussion with Thorson and the RGM team, they opted to dip their toe in primary sponsorship. With how things have gone, team owner, Rod Gross, and the Tessier family are in works for a succession plan once Gross makes the decision to get out of the sport.

“It’s no secret that I am getting older, and after all the work that Tanner and everyone has done, I don’t want this to just go away,” Gross added. “We have been busy putting a succession plan in place for JST Motorsports to ultimately take over team ownership in the next few years. It is no secret how important continuity is in this sport, and this will ensure our group can stay together and continue to build for years to come. I am in by no means done yet, I just want to ensure the future of our team.”

Thorson too is excited for what the future holds for the team. “Like I said, the Tessier family is great for the sport, and it is really cool that they want to take the next step and stay involved with us,” he added. “Rod has been a great asset for my career, and I think it is really cool that he is looking to the future for all of us.”

“About midway through last season, we knew we wanted more…and wanted more skin in the game,” Tessier added. “We are so immersed in motorsports, and we love it as a family and it truly is a passion.  We started talking with Rod, and we have started to get a plan in place for that time he decides he is ready to step away, and our family couldn’t be more thrilled. It is huge to have a plan in place and it helps the team continue to grow, and from the outsider perspective it will be a seamless transition once that time comes.”
