Sean Becker Charges to SCCT Top-10 With Standley Motorsports
PETERSEN MEDIA- Slated to be on the sidelines until KWS/NARC action resumes this weekend, Sean Becker took advantage of a last minute phone call from Kyle Standley and went on to pick up an eighth place finish in Saturday’s SCCT opener at Placerville Speedway.
“I am very thankful that my friend, Kyle Standley, gave me a last minute call to run Placerville with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour,” Sean Becker said. “Each time we hit the track he had our car better and that allowed us to have a good finish.”
With 41 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s 2025 season opener, Becker timed the Golden Valley Auto Body backed No. 54 in 15th quickest in his qualifying flight which put him in a bit of an early hole.
Lining up eighth in his heat race, the veteran wheelman went to work as he chased after one of the five transfer bids that were up for grabs. Sitting one spot out with just two laps to go in his heat, Becker was able to make his move to take fifth and lock into the 35-lap feature event.
Though mired deep in the field for the feature event, Becker and team continued to make adjustments to their car as they took the green flag form the 18th starting position.
Despite rain through the week, the Placerville Speedway surface blew off and widened out for the feature event and allowed Becker to work his way through the field.
As the race came to life, Becker settled in as he slowly picked up a few spots and was in 14th by the race’s halfway point. Continuing to run a patient race as he was mired in traffic, ‘the Shark’ made his way into the Top-10 in the race’s closing laps, before making a move to get into eighth on a late restart.
Falling back to ninth with two laps to go, Becker was able to reclaim eight on the white flag lap as it solidified hard charger honors for him and his team.
“Despite a bit of a slow start, the guys worked hard and I am just thankful I could repay them for their efforts and get a Top-10,” Becker added.
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 1, Top-10’s- 2
ON TAP: Becker will return to action on Friday night in Watsonville, CA when the KWS/NARC slate resumes as he reunites with the Bjork Motorsports team.
