Sean Becker Third at Placerville
PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night with NARC, Sean Becker and the Bjork Motorsports team had a great showing as Becker led laps early in the feature event before settling for a third place finish when all was said and done.
“We had a great night, and I am just really bummed I couldn’t close it out and get this team into victory lane,” Sean Becker said. “The way the race went, it was tough being out front because I really didn’t know what the best line was in traffic and Justin (Sanders) had that benefit.”
In the second and final appearance of the year at Placerville Speedway, Becker timed in sixth fastest in qualifications.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Becker’s second place effort moved him into the Dash where he lined up fourth. On a racy Placerville Speedway surface, ‘The Shark’ was on the prowl in the six-lap shootout as his second-place finish put him on the front row of the 30-lapper.
Starting on the front row alongside Justyn Cox, Becker hammered the throttle when the green was displayed as he powered out to the early lead. Setting a nice pace out in front of the field, High Limit feature event winner, Justin Sanders moved into second and began to pressure for the top spot but Becker was having none of it.
A caution slowed the action and gave the leaders clear track, and as the green was displayed Becker continued to lead the way.
Looking strong out front, as they got into traffic, Sanders was able to pounce as he took over the top spot on the 25th lap.
Chasing after Sanders as they still ripped through traffic, Becker fell to third as he navigated slow cars on the 29th lap. Closing back in on second running Dylan Bloomfield on the final stanza, Becker just narrowly missed out on the runner up spot as he closed the night out with a third place finish.
“Even though the season is starting to wind down, I am hopeful we can put ourself in the same position again and pick off a couple of these races,” Becker added.
