Sean Becker’s Saturday Night Ends With Wild Ride
PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the Dan Monhoff owned No. 35 on Saturday night, Sean Becker was in action at Placerville Speedway for the SCCT opener and unfortunately saw his night come to an end with a wild ride in the feature event.
“I am extremely thankful that Dan Monhoff wanted to run the SCCT opener on Saturday night,” Sean Becker said. “Unfortunately, our night ended with a destroyed racecar and I am absolutely gutted for him.”
Making his first start of the season with Monhoff Racing, Becker timed in 14th fastest in qualifying time trials, which put him in an early hole.
Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver’s sixth place finish wasn’t enough to lock into the night’s feature event, and forced him into the semi where he chased after one of the four feature event transfers.
Taking the green flag from the sixth starting position, Becker came to life when the 12-lapper went green. Working his way into third, Becker took second after Andy Forsberg had issues in traffic just ahead of him.
Holding on to second, Becker locked into the first SCCT feature event of the season where he took the green flag from the 22nd starting position.
With the track extremely fast in the opening laps, Becker had his hands full trying to move forward as he was in dense traffic. Running in 21st, a car forced him up into the front stretch wall on the ninth lap and it resulted in him flipping wildly into the turn one catch fence.
While he was able to walk away unscathed, Becker’s night was over.
“I just hate that we tore up so much of Dan’s equipment,” Becker added. “I am hoping the damage isn’t too bad and we can try again later this year.”
