Strong Nights Go South For Sean Becker
PETERSEN MEDIA- Competing with both Standley Motorsports and Bjork Motorsports over the weekend in Placerville, CA, Sean Becker had two good nights going until issues in both feature events hindered his results.
“We had two good cars, but unfortunately Friday night we had brake issues in the feature, and on Saturday night we got shoved off the track and ended up getting upside down,” Sean Becker said.
Friday night, Becker was in the seat of the Kyle Standley owned No. 54x entry for the inaugural Davy Thomas Memorial that was ran under SCCT sanction. Getting the night started off by timing in 10th fastest in his qualifying flight, ‘The Shark’ picked up a third place finish in his heat race.
Locking directly into the 35-lap feature event, Becker rolled off the starting grid from the 12th starting position on a very slick Placerville Speedway racing surface.
Moving into ninth as the feature event came to life, Becker was solidly in the Top-10 as he moved into eighth on the eighth lap. Continuing to battle hard, Becker endured brake issues which resulted in him going to the back on the 11th lap.
Restarting from the 20th position, Becker began to work his way forward as he carefully navigated traffic on the tight confines of Placerville Speedway. Getting all he could in the final 15 laps, Becker took the checkered with a 14th place finish.
Saturday night brought on the annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial as Becker returned to the seat of the Bjork Motorsports No. 7B for the NARC event.

Timing in sixth fastest in his qualifying group, Becker picked up a second place finish in heat race action which locked him into the 10th starting spot for the impending 40-lap feature event.
Slipping back to 12th in the early goings of the race as drivers searched high and low on the extremely slick surface, Becker used the race’s first restart on the 12th lap to pounce and work his way into the Top-10.
Getting into 10th, Becker was then up into eighth on the 16th lap before tight quarters racing saw him slip back to ninth at the halfway point.
While running in ninth, more close quarters racing resulted in Becker getting shoved up over the cushion in turn four and it resulted in his entry getting upside down.
Going to the work area, the team repaired all they could and sent Becker back out in a battered entry. Able to make another lap, Becker’s night officially came to a close on the 35th lap as he ended up being scored 22nd.
“It was really unfortunate how both nights ended,” Becker said. “The only thing to do after a weekend like that is pull a tear off, and get back after it this weekend.”
BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-12, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 7
ON TAP: Becker heads back to Chico, CA this Friday and Saturday for a pair of 410ci events.
