PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for a night of weekly points racing at the famed ¼ mile bullring, Tanner Carrick charged from his seventh starting position and secured a fourth-place finish in the feature event.

“We were on the front row of our heat race and needed to win to make the redraw, but running second put us a little deeper in the field than we wanted to be,” Tanner Carrick said. “We were able to make up a few spots and ultimately ended up fourth.”

With 23 cars on hand at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in seventh fastest in time trials after going out nearly last in the session.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Carrick was unable to get the initial jump as he settled into second. Chasing after Andy Forsberg, Carrick was unable to get around the defending track champion and his second-place finish put him in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.

Moving into sixth when the feature event came to life, an early restart saw the Lincoln, CA driver jump into fifth when the action resumed. Running well in fifth, Carrick worked his way into fourth when the field was shown the cross flags indicating they were at the halfway point of the race.

Once into fourth, Carrick began to battle the likes of Chance Grasty and Tony Gomes who ran just ahead of him on the slick surface.

Getting close to a podium spot on a couple of occasions, Carrick was unable to make any of his moves stick as he settled into fourth where he went on to finish.

 “Track position is vital at Placerville Speedway, so not taking care of business in the heat race hurt,” Tanner Carrick said. “We had really good speed, it is just tough to come through the Top-5 at Placerville as its always a tough group.”
