Tanner Carrick 7th with SCCT In Merced, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick and the Carrick Racing team were right back to it on Saturday night as they traveled to Merced, CA for a night of action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, and racked their ninth top-10 of the season by way of a seventh place finish.

“We have been right in the mix all year long so far, and we put ourselves in a good spot in the feature we just slipped back as the laps wore on,” Tanner Carrick said.

Amidst 43 total 360’s checked into Merced Speedway on Saturday night, the Lincoln, CA driver got off to another great start as he continues to have strong qualifying runs and timed the CVC/Cemex/CA Wafterfowl backed No. 83T in fourth fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Carrick took advantage of the starting position as he mashed the throttle, and jumped out to the early lead. Leading the way, Carrick was not to be denied as he picked up the win and moved into the Dash where he lined up in the third starting position.

Tallying a third-place finish in the High Sierra Industries Dash, Carrick was set to take on some of the region’s best from out of the second row for the 35-lap feature event.

As the race came to life, Carrick got shuffled back as he worked around the freshly manicured racing surface that was extremely slick earlier in the night.

Falling out of the Top-5 in the early laps, Carrick was back in 10th by the 14th lap.

Despite slipping back to 10th, Carrick was able to flip the script as the track work started to wear off and track started to get back to its extremely slick state. Working back into 8th on the 23rd lap, Carrick continued to battle his way back forward as he was up into sixth on the 26th lap before slipping back to seventh late in the race, where he ultimately finished.

“The pre-race track prep threw us off a bit, but I was patient and as things changed and got more slick we were able to rebound and work our way back forward,” Carrick added.

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 15, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 5, Top 10’s: 9
