Tanner Carrick Pleased with Double Duty Showing in Tulare, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Tanner Carrick continued his early season double duty outings. Saturday night, Carrick was back in action in Tulare, CA where he resumed action with NARC and was also in action with the non-winged USCS.

“Overall, we had really good speed in both cars,” Tanner Carrick said. “It was a bummer that the non-winged race got cut short, because I think we could have a good race with Ryan Bernal, and in the NARC race, I got rolling but just misjudged a car and ended up spinning to a stop.”

With 29 NARC cars checked into the pit area for the series’ second event of the season, Carrick timed the CVC/Cemex/California Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in 17th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Carrick was in a very entertaining three car battle for position, and when the race ended, he did end up sixth which did lock him into the 30-lap feature event.

Moving into the feature event, the Lincoln, CA driver took the green flag from the 17th starting position on a very slick and racy Thunderbowl Raceway surface. After the race’s first stoppage, Carrick used the restart to make a couple of big moves.

Sitting in 16th, Carrick jumped into 13th when the race came back to life and was in the Top-10 a lap later. With a big run heading into turn one, Carrick closed in on a car quickly and as he tried to get slowed down he made slight contact with the left rear and brought his car to a stop on the seventh lap.

Able to restart from last, Carrick was able to pick up a few positions but as rubber started to go down on the speedway, his progress was slowed as he capped the night off in 18th.

Also competing in non-winged action on this night, Carrick got his USCS part of the night off to a great start as he earned quick time honors.

Advancing from fifth to third in his heat race, Carrick lined up for the feature event in the sixth position. Running in sixth as the USCS feature came to life, Carrick moved into fifth on eighth lap, and then worked into fourth at what was the scheduled halfway point of the race.

Running in fourth, Carrick slipped back to fifth on the 19th lap, only to see the red flag come out and put him in third. Under the red flag, circumstance in the race changed and officials opted to call the race short six laps from the scheduled finish.

“Good speed in both our cars, and that is definitely a confidence booster heading into our busy schedule,” Carrick added.

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 10, Wins: -0, Top 5’s: 4, Top 10’s: 5
