Tanner Carrick Rebounds For Placerville Sprint Car Top-10 And Nets Podium Finish in Midget

PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing in both the winged 360ci and USAC Western States Midget event on Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Tanner Carrick recorded a third place finish in midget action before rebounding for an early incident in the sprint car feature to net a Top-10.

“I want to extend a big thank you to the Sarale family for the opportunity to get into a midget again,” Tanner Carrick said. “They are a lot of fun to drive, and I enjoy the couple of times a year I have the opportunity. I just wish I could get them a win because they have a really fast car.”

With 25 midgets on hand for the series first appearance of the season at Placerville Speedway, Tanner Carrick set the standard in qualifying time trials before advancing to a fourth place finish in his heat race after taking the green flag from the third row.

Lining up eighth in the feature event with the inversion, Carrick slowly worked his way through the field as the track stayed grippy and fast early in the night.

Racing into the Top-5 on the ninth lap, Carrick moved into fourth on the 14th lap, before moving into third a lap later as he chased after the lead duo of Shane Golobic and TJ Smith.

Continuing to hound the duo, Carrick was able to pull away from his teammate, Caden Sarale and take the checkered flag in third though he was right on Smith’s tail.

In Sprint Car action on Saturday night, Carrick timed in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight and lined up on the front row of his heat race.

Getting the jump, Carrick was able to race to the all-important win as it locked him into the redraw where he ended up pulling the seven pill.

Lining up in the fourth row of the 25-lap feature event Carrick wen to work on the bottom side of the speedway. Unfortunately for Carrick, he would get caught in an awkward spot entering turns three and four as contact with another car caused him to spin into the infield and restart for the tail end of the field.

Form the back of the pack, Carrick had his elbows up as he sliced and diced his way back towards the front.

Rebounding as best as he could, Carrick was able to get back into 10th when the checkered flag was displayed.

“Running the bottom, I just kind of got tangled with another car and around we went,” Carrick said. “Luckily I had a strong car and was able to race back forward and get back to the Top-10.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts: 12, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 5, Top 10’s: 7

ON TAP: Tanner Carrick will now drop his 410ci powerplant into his entry and head to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA this Friday and Saturday night.
