Holmes 13th at Eldora
PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his first start of the season at Eldora Speedway on Friday night with Tarlton Motorsports continued to gain valuable seat time on a big half mile as he picked up a 13th place finish with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
“It was great to get laps at Eldora,” Tanner Holmes said. “It’s a place that I don’t have a ton of experience at, so it was good to get a solid night under my belt before getting back their later this summer.”
Though Mother Nature turned the scheduled two night affair into a Friday only show, Holmes was pleased with how things went after timing the Tarlton and Son Inc./American Rock and Rent/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 in 29th in time trials.
Lining up eighth in his heat race, Homes was very stout in his heat race as he made huge gains on the famed ½ mile. Working his way into fourth, Holmes held on to finish in a transfer spot and locked directly into the feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 13th starting position, Holmes got off to bit of a slow start as he fell back to 17th as he settled into a rhythm.
Starting to come life at the halfway point of the feature event, the Jacksonville, IL driver was able to pick off a couple of those positions he lost in the early laps as he capped his Friday night off with a 13th place finish.
“After qualifying we made a ton of changes and we were really good in our heat race,’ Holmes noted. “In the feature we just maintained after a slow start and couldn’t get much going, but like I said it was good to get more quality laps in for myself and for the team in general.”
