Tanner Holmes Has Turbulent NARC Opener
PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a win at the Silver Cup in Chico, CA, Tanner Holmes and the Tarlton Motorsports team were in action in Stockton, CA on Saturday nigh for the first NARC event of the season, and after heat race issues, Homes finished 13th in the feature event.
“Stockton was definitely interesting for me on a personal level,” Tanner Homes said. “It was the first time I have raced there since the track was completely re shaped and I felt good, but the start of my heat race essentially killed our night.”
Kicking the night off, Holmes timed the Tarlton and Son Inc./American Rock and Rent/Executive Auto Sales No. 21 entry in sixth quickest in time trials amongst the 25 cars that were checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Homes got a bit out of shape entering turn one and contact to his front end from another driver saw his team race end just like that, and it relegated him to a 20th starting position in the feature event.
On the tight confines of Stockton Dirt Track, Holmes kept his nose clean as he raced in dense traffic for much of the night. Working his way towards the Top-10 during an extended green flag run, Holmes couldn’t get much higher on the running order as the laps clicked off.
When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, the Jacksonville, OR driver capped the night off with a 13th place finish.
“I felt comfortable all night, and that is a huge testament to this Tarlton Motorsports team,” Holmes added. “On a place that is that small and tight, you have to run a perfect race and have things go your way, but we were just mired in traffic all night. I am extremely excited for the stretch we have coming up, and I am thankful to Drew, Nate, and Carly for their hard work, as well as to the Tarlton family for this opportunity to drive for them.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son Inc., American Rock and Rent, Executive Auto Sales, Durst, Tarlton Estate and Asset Management, Bandy and Associates, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Willwood Brakes, Vortex Wings, and High Performance Lubricants for their support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 3, Wins: 1, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 1.
