Tanner Holmes Wins Silver Cup With Tarlton Motorsports
PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his season debut with Tarlton Motorsports over the weekend, Tanner Holmes bounced back from a rough Friday night in the best way possible; winning Saturday night’s Silver Cup feature event.
“It was a great weekend with the Tarlton Motorsports team, and a great way to kick our season off,” Tanner Holmes said. “Friday night we got to shake things down, and it allowed us to come out swinging on Saturday.”
Putting a turbulent Friday night behind himself and the rest of the Tarlton Motorsports team, Holmes hit the track Saturday night and timed the Tarlton and Son Inc./American Rock and Rent/Executive Auto Sales backed No. 21 in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the pole of his heat race, the Jacksonville, OR driver was able to wire the field and pick up the win. In doing so, he locked himself into the all important Dash, where his sixth place finish put him in the third row of the 35-lap feature event.
Jumping into fifth when the race came to life, Holmes showed he had a very strong Drew Warner prepared mount underneath him on the slicked off Silver Dollar Speedway surface.
Moving into third on the ninth lap, Holmes continue to get stronger as he was able to close in on Shane Golobic and Tanner Carrick who led the way in front of him. Pounding the Silver Dollar Speedway curb, Holmes moved into second on the 20th lap, and wasted no time making his move on Carrick for the lead as he powered to the top spot on the 25th lap.
Out in front, Holmes never looked back. Running a perfect final five laps, the Oregonian driver captured his first career win with the Tarlton Motorsports team.
