PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night, Tony Gomes and C&M Motorsports got their 2025 season underway as they recorded a third-place finish during an unsanctioned event at Stockton Dirt Track.

“With how much Stockton has changed over the last year with track shape and configuration, it was good to get another race there and figure some different things out,” Tony Gomes said. “It was also great to get back racing and shake some rust off.”

Taking advantage of a late February race, Gomes and company made the trip to Stockton, CA where the Modesto, CA driver timed in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Running fourth in his heat race, Gomes moved into the four lap Dash where his fourth-place finish put him in the second row to start the 25-lap feature event. On a surface that had gone extremely slick over the course of the late afternoon show, rubber went down on the surface early in the race and created a narrow racing surface.

From his second row starting position, Gomes worked into the third position as the race came to life and chased after race leader, Chance Grasty, and second running Caleb Debem. As the rubber continued to go down on the surface, passing opportunities closed up and Gomes settled in.

Able to hit his marks and keep his tires underneath him, Gomes capped his opening night out off with a third place finish.

“It really felt good to get back in the car, and get back into race mode,” Gomes said. “I really appreciate Cody, John, and Brad’s hard work. I also am very appreciative of Cody and Mandi giving me another opportunity to drive their car again. I also want to give a shoutout to all of the great sponsors that assist our efforts each week.”
