PETERSEN MEDIA- A couple of new tracks were served up to Ashton Torgerson over the weekend, and while it was a learning experience for the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, his weekend was highlighted by an 11^th place finish on Friday night.

“It is always going to be a little bit of a struggle for us when we get to new tracks, and that was exactly the case over the weekend,” Ashton Torgerson said. “It is definitely a learning curve, but getting the experience is huge.”

Checking in at US 36 Raceway on Friday night, Torgerson timed the Pells Tire Service/Newman’s Racing Engines/Moxzy backed No. 1a in 11^th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up fourth in heat race competition, the Glendale, AZ driver’s fifth place finish moved him directly into the 30-lap ‘A’ Main.

From the 14^th starting position, Torgerson continued to acclimate to the racy track and was able to move forward as he continued to get comfortable. Getting into 10^th on the fifth lap, Torgerson was up into ninth by the 17^th lap.

Over the course of the final stanzas, Torgerson did get shuffled back to 11^th where he went on to finish.

Saturday night the scene shifted to 81 Raceway where the youngster got the night kicked off by timing in 10^th fastest in time trials.

A fifth-place heat race finish locked him into the 20^th starting spot in the feature event. From the back of the field, Torgerson just focused on logging laps on the tricky track conditions that were hindered by high winds.

Keeping his nose clean, Torgerson capped the weekend off with a 19^th-place finish.
