Andy Forsberg 10th at Placerville Speedway’s Season Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg and the PHR Racing team were back at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the Mark Forni/CJ Humphreys Memorial which capped the regular season at the track, and Forsberg finished 10th in the feature event.

“We have just had a tough road the last few weeks,” Andy Forsberg said. “The team has been working extremely hard, but things just haven’t gone our way. I know we will keep at it and hopefully turn this around as the season winds down.”

A robust 35 cars packed into the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the weekly series’ finale, and Forsberg got the night kicked off by timing the Pacific Highway Rentals/Meridian Cameras/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 in fifth fastest in his qualifying flight, which put him on the front row of his heat race.

Lining up on the outside of the first heat, Forsberg got the jump and took the early lead which was pivotal as he still had a shot at the track championship. Keeping the top spot, Forsberg grabbed the win and garnered a spot in the redraw where the six lined him up in the third row of the feature event.

When the race came to life, Forsberg spent the early laps battling for top five position as he was in a tight knit battle for fifth and sixth. Continuing to work around the ¼ mile bullring, Forsberg worked into fifth on the ninth lap before he slipped back to eight on lap 10.

As the laps clicked off, the Auburn, CA driver continued to search around the speedway to find a line to get moving back forward but just wasn’t able to make anything happen as he continued to battle in the Top-10. Getting back into sixth briefly on the 19th circuit, close quarters racing action saw him slip back to 10th on the 22nd lap.

Unable to gain any lost track position in the final eighth laps, Forsberg brought his night to an end with a 10th place finish.

“We were just a little off in the feature and couldn’t get going,” Forsberg said. “This week we get back to SCCT action as we head to Petaluma Speedway, and we will continue to work at getting this turned around.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
