Andy Forsberg 2nd with Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Petaluma Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Having a strong night at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Andy Forsberg ultimately ended up with a second place finish as Chance Grasty was able to sneak by him amidst dense traffic with just a few laps to go in the feature event.
“Traffic was tough on Saturday night, but sometimes it makes your day and sometimes in breaks your day and on Saturday it didn’t go our way,” Andy Forsberg said. “It is cool to see Chance Grasty get his first Sprint Car Challenge Tour win, but I thought we were on our way to another win.”
With 24 cars making the trip to Petaluma Speedway for first of two SCCT appearances at the track in 2025, Forsberg got the night underway by timing the Pacific Highway Rentals/Meridian Cameras/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver simply needed to finish inside the top-five to make himself Dash eligible, but a great start saw him power his way into the lead.
Able to pick up the win, Forsberg was not only locked into the Dash, but automatically earned the pole for winning his heat from fourth.
Continuing to have a strong showing on the Petaluma Speedway, Forsberg led the Dash from flag to flag and earned the right to lead the field to green for the 35-lap SCCT feature event.
When the opening green flag flew, it was quickly replaced by a red with issues in turn three and four causing a complete restart.
Getting the jump when the green finally flew, Forsberg led the way but cautions soon haunted the race and marred the opening half of action.
Able to nail each and every restart, Forsberg was very as stoppages continued to keep him out of traffic.
Following a fuel stop at the race’s halfway point, the cautions stopped and the race go into an extended green flag run which saw the leaders get into dense traffic.
Navigating the back of the field, Forsberg was able to keep second running Chance Grasty at bay, until he was forced to slow his pace with five to go, which allowed Grasty to pass him for the top spot.
With a bit of clear track for the finale few laps, Forsberg was unable to get back to the lead as he capped his night off with a second place finish.
“We had a good car, and traffic happens, and those guys are racing themselves so you cant be too upset losing a race in traffic,” Forsberg added. “Thanks to the crew for working hard and giving us a great car, we will be back to this week.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
