PETERSEN MEDIA- Cody Lamar raced his way from Saturday night’s ‘B’ Main to a 15th place finish in Placerville, CA with the new Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“It was a pretty decent night for our team,” Lamar said. “We timed in okay, but missed the transfer in our heat race. We were able to get out of the ‘B’, and make a little charge in the ‘A’.”

Timing in 14th overall in qualifying time trials, Lamar would end up fourth fastest in his group which would place him on the front row of his heat race. An extremely exciting heat race would see Lamar battle with Justin Sanders, Justyn Cox, and Mitchell Faccinto as the four drivers fought for three transfer spots.

Lamar would ultimately find himself on the outside looking in, and be forced into the night’s ‘B’ main. Lining up fourth in the semi, Lamar would have his hands full on the slick surface as he gave it his all to stay in a transfer spot.

Slipping back a few spots, Lamar would finish in the seventh spot and earn the final starting spot for the 40-lap ‘A’ Main event. From the 22nd starting position, Lamar would make up some ground on the slicked off racing surface.

With cars searching for grip high and low, Lamar was there to overtake positions where he could find open real estate from the back of the pack.

Using a few double-file restarts to his advantage, the Rio Linda, CA driver was able to pick up a couple of more positions on the race’s final 14-lap green flag run.

When the checkered flag flew on the race, Lamar had worked his way up to finish in the 15th spot.

“We always want to be better, and we will go to work to do just that this weekend,” Lamar added. “I have to thank everyone who helps this team out and makes this all possible.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-2, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Lamar is scheduled to follow the SCCT to Tulare, CA on Friday night with a possible trip to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night in the works.
