PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting both a 410 and 360 race in over the weekend, DJ Netto ran well on both nights as he finished fifth on Friday night in Chico, CA and fourth on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.
“It was a weekend we really needed,” DJ Netto said. “We were pretty good with both the 360 and the 410, and that is good with some big races coming up for both divisions.”
Traveling to Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night in Chico, CA, Netto would time the famed Tri C Motorsports No. 3c sprinter in second fastest in qualifying time trials before running third in his heat race.
With the track staying fast most of the night, Netto would be a little on the snug side in the feature event as he took the green flag from the fourth starting position.
Battling with drivers like Andy Forsberg, Sean Becker, and Bud Kaeding, Netto would run hard on the quick ¼ mile. When the 25-lapper came to a close, Netto took the checkered flag with a fifth place finish.
Moving on to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for 360 action, Netto would again time in well as he timed the Tri C Manufacturing/Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain entry in third quickest in time trials.
On another fast surface, Netto would finish fourth in his heat race and move into the night’s 25-lap feature event where he would line up in the sixth spot. With the track tricky in one and two as some ruts had developed, Netto seemed to figure out how to maneuver around them well as he battled in the lead pack.
Fighting with the likes of Justin Sanders, and Sean Becker much of the race, Netto looked like he would have something for a podium finish.
A late restart would see him work up to third, but an impending yellow would negate his pass. The final restart would see Netto make a bid for fourth, but he would take evasive action as a competitor wheelied up alongside of him before he was able to clear him and race to a fourth place finish.
“Saturday night was the best I felt at Placerville Speedway, and it was nice to get a Top-Five,” Netto said. “We had a shot for an even better finish but there was a caution that negated our pass. Overall it was nice to get two good finishes for this team.”
