PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the nod to pilot the Roth Motorsports No. 83JR in 2019, Dominic Scelzi got his season started on Saturday night during the opening round of the Kings of Thunder Series at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA with a hard fought third place finish.

“We learned a ton on Saturday night, and it was good to get a feel for a new car and a new team,” Dominic Scelzi said. “To get on the podium was great after how I qualified, and I am really looking forward to getting the KWS season going Saturday night.”

Feeling confident after a good hot lap session on the slick Keller Auto Speedway, moisture would ‘come back’ to the surface as time trials got underway and the track would start to get rough.

Clipping holes on both laps, Scelzi would end up timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. No. 83jr in 12th quickest in time trials.

Finding himself on the front row of his heat race, Scelzi admittedly could not get comfortable on the rough and tumble racing surface an would slip back to finish in the second position.

With the track staying fast, and rough, Scelzi knew he would have his work cut out for himself as he lined up 10th on the starting grid. Using the feature as a test session and trying some different things on their car, Scelzi adapted well as he worked his way forward tiptoeing around the Keller Auto Speedway surface.

Getting up to third late in the race, a restart with six to go would see Scelzi look to challenge Mitchell Faccinto for the second position. Unable to pull off the pass, Scelzi would take the checkered flag with a hard fought third place finish.

“It is great to run for Dennis and Teresa Roth, and I am extremely thankful for the opportunity,” Scelzi added. “It was a great shakedown, and like I said, really excited to get the 410ci engine in and get back to work this weekend.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 1, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 1.
