PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to the Northeast over the last week with the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Joey Saldana and his Roth Motorsports team had a hard fought week of racing that saw the team record three Top-10 finishes in four races.

“It wasn’t a bad week of racing by our team, but it certainly is not where any of us want to be finishing,” Joey Saldana said. “We struggled a few nights and didn’t capitalize on some really good starting spots, so that is something we need to work on.”

After rain washed out Wednesday night’s scheduled race at the Lincoln Speedway, Thursday’s weather was much more inviting for sprint car racing. Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine in second fastest in his qualifying flight, Saldana would win his heat race and move into the night’s dash.

Battling with Danny Dietrich and Donny Schatz in the dash, Saldana’s third place finish would line him up in the second row for the 35-lap A Main event. Getting into the third spot when the race went green, Saldana would search around the Lincoln Speedway as he slowly dropped back during the non-stop race.

Hanging in the Top-10 for much of the race, Saldana would bring his Roth Motorsports machine home with an 11th place finish.

Heading to the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, Saldana would again get off to a strong start as he set fast time honors on this night before winning his heat race and making his way into the dash.

Finishing second in the dash, ‘The Brownsburg Bullet’ would line up on the front row for the feature event alongside PA Posse member, Greg Hodnett. Falling back to third on the start of the race, Saldana would battle with the likes of Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz, and Danny Dietrich as they all battled for position within the Top-Five.

In the final laps of the race, Saldana would slip back to the sixth spot, where he would end up finishing.

More rain wreaked havoc on Saturday night forcing the Williams Grove Speedway finale to be cancelled, and Saldana and company quickly turned their attention to Sunday’s event at the Weedsport Speedway.

Setting the standard in qualifying time trials for the second night in-a-row, Saldana would win his third heat race of the week before finishing in the fifth spot in the dash.

An exciting race saw Saldana hang with lead pack on Sunday night as the track continue to get slick and racy as the laps clicked off. Battling with Schatz, and David Gravel at parts of the race, Saldana would just narrowly miss out on a podium finish as he settled for fourth on this night.

Tuesday night saw the Northeast swing come to an end as ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ checked in at the New Egypt Speedway for the Jersey Outlaw Classic.

Timing in third quickest, Saldana made it a perfect four-for-four in heat races over the swing as he would then finish fifth in the dash, which placed him in the third row for the feature.

Racing inside the Top-10 on Tuesday night, Saldana would find himself battling Shane Stewart and David Gravel late in the race. Exchanging blows with his rivals in the closing laps of the race, Saldana would end the swing with an eighth place finish.

“We were in the thick of things each and every night, but we know that Dennis and Teresa Roth want to win these World of Outlaw races,” Saldana added. “They continue to give us great tools and great equipment to succeed, now we just need to thank them but getting this car back in victory lane.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
