PETERSEN MEDIA- A trio of Top-10’s over the weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series culminated with a hard fought second place finish in Aberdeen, SD for Joey Saldana and his Roth Motorsports team.

“It’s a tough series, so when you get knocked down it’s tough to get back up,” Joey Saldana said. “Sunday night it felt good to be on the podium, and hopefully we can build off of that this week. This was a really good effort, and I have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for their continued support.”

Saldana would get his night started off in fine fashion as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, ‘The Brownsburg Bullet’ would race his way to the win before a fifth place finish in the dash lined him up in the third row for the 35-lap A Main event.

When the green flag dropped on the feature, Saldana was able to move forward as he took over the third spot in the early part of the race before getting by Daryn Pittman for second on the 10th circuit.

As Saldana took over the runner up spot, Donny Schatz moved into the third spot and the duo would hook up in a very entertaining battle for the runner up spot amidst dense lapped traffic.

With the duo going back and forth lap after lap, Saldana would finally take the spot for good in the race’s closing laps. Once in the second spot, Saldana would have just a few laps to work on Shane Stewart who had built up a very healthy lead.

Able to cut into that lead, Saldana would close his week out with a second place finish.

“Sunday night you could really move around in turns one and two, but it started to clean off in three and four and that’s where things got challenging,” Saldana added. “Overall it was a really good effort for our team, and hopefully we can keep progressing.”

Saldana and company would be in action at the Granite City Speedway last Wednesday night where the Brownsburg, IN driver would finish in the 10th spot before a ninth place finish at the River Cities Speedway.

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
