Justin Sanders Charges From 16th to 4th at Tribute to Al Hinds

PETERSEN MEDIA- Originally slated to be in action with NARC at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, a postponement there allowed Sanders to pivot to the Dale Miller Motorsports entry for a trip to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night where the Aromas, CA driver battled back from a tough start to his night and charged from 16th to 4th.

“It was an eventful night for our team,” Justin Sanders said. “I completely missed it in qualifying which put his back in the night early, and then after getting spun in our heat, we were able to still transfer into the feature before we put together a really good charge through the field.”

36 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway to kick the points season off with the ‘Tribute to Al Hinds’. Timing in 10thfastest in his qualifying group aboard the Anrak/Thompson’s Family of Dealerships/North County Plastering backed No. 4SA, Sanders lined up in the third row of his heat race, Sanders needed to obtain at least a fourth place finish to transfer into the feature event.

Racing his way forward, contact on a heat race restart saw Sanders get into the infield berm and it resulted in him spinning which put him at the back of the pack.

Getting his elbows up, Sanders did all he could to avoid the night’s ‘B’ Main as he worked his way into the fourth and final transfer position which placed him 16th on the starting grid in the feature event.

When the feature went green, Sanders was mired back in heavy traffic despite a couple of early cautions leading to restarts. When the race got into a rhythym, Sanders got into one as well as he began working his way through the field.

As laps clicked off, Sanders got stronger in the Dale Miller Septic Inc./Triple X entry. Racing his way into fifth on the 23rd lap, Sanders worked into fourth a lap later and chased after second and third running Landon Brooks and Dylan Bloomfield.

With second and third battling, Sanders closed in with just two laps to go, but was unable to get either of them as he capped the night off with a charge to fourth.

“The night definitely came to us,” Sanders said. “Starting 16th isn’t’ exactly where we want to be, but it’s the hand we were dealt and our team made the best of it.”
