PETERSEN MEDIA: After a weekend off from 410ci racing, Justyn Cox and his Cox Family Racing team met back up with the King of the West Series at the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night where the Clarksburg, CA pilot finished in the 11th spot.

“It was kind of a mediocre night for us,” Justyn Cox said. “We timed in well and put ourselves in a great spot, but I didn’t take care of business in the heat race, and we just seemed to struggle in the feature.”

Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c entry in eighth fastest in time trials, Cox would battle for the heat race win, but a second place effort would place him in the sixth row for the 30-lap Jimmy Sills Classic feature event.

On a very slick Stockton Dirt Track surface, Cox battled to get his machine to make grip. Searching around the speedway trying to find a line that suited him and his car, Cox would hang right around the Top-10 for much of the race.

Doing all he could on the slick surface, Cox would find himself in the 11th spot as rubber started to down on the speedway. Quickly finding the preferred line, Cox would challenge for a spot in the Top-10 late in the race, but would close his night out in the 11th spot.

“The Dash is so important with this series, we really need to do all we can to get a spot in that night in and night out,” Cox said. “We were in a good spot on Saturday, I just couldn’t get the job done in our heat race. My guys worked hard, and hopefully we can run well this weekend. I know I am really looking forward to Calistoga on Saturday night.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2016!

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-19, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-7

ON TAP: Justyn Cox and his team will be in action with the King of the West Series this weekend as they head to the Ocean Speedway on Friday night and the Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night.
