PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour during the season ending event on Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Cox would have a very strong showing that ended with him going home with a fifth place finish.

“I felt pretty solid all night long,” Cox said. “We got off to a little bit of a slow start in time trials, but we had a car that raced very well and we were able to bring it home with a fifth place finish.”

Timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31c machine in third quickest in his time trial group, the Clarksburg, CA driver would pick up the win in his heat race and move into the feature event with a guaranteed Top-10 starting spot.

With his time trial effort keeping him out of the Dash, Cox would take the green flag from the 10th starting position alongside series Champion, Kyle Hirst. On a fast racing surface, the first 16-laps would click off in rapid fire fashion and Cox would find himself in the ninth spot when that happened after getting over the cushion on the race’s opening lap.

When the action resumed, Cox was able to pick up another position as he took over eighth before the slew of cautions took over the flow of the race.

A red on lap 21 allowed crews to get to their cars, and Cox and company would make some changes to the Cox Racing entry in an effort to get the car a little better for the race’s final 14-laps.

Admittedly going in the wrong direction, Cox would have his hands full though was still able to pick up some key positions in the closing laps. Getting into fifth on the 27th lap, Cox would chase after Willie Croft and Hirst who ran just ahead of him, but would not quite get to them as he finished the race with a fifth place finish.

“We tried to make something happen under the red, but we ended up getting too free, and I just held on to what I could,” Cox said. “We also had our 410 out on Saturday night, but we had issues all night and really didn’t get a chance to run. I have to thank everyone who makes this all possible for us to run so much, and be competitive.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-50, Wins-6, Top 5’s-20, Top 10’s-29

ON TAP: Cox will shed the wings again and take part in the Sprint Car portion of Turkey Night in Ventura, CA on November 22nd and 23rd.
