PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Australia for two more weekends of racing, Kerry Madsen returned to his winning ways, as he won the World Series Sprint Cars Grand Final at the Motorplex in Perth, WA Saturday night.
“It is great to get back to Western Australia, and score a win,” Madsen said. “We got our US season off to a great season the last two weeks, and it is great to come back over to Australia and continue have awesome speed.”
Timing the American Racing/Keneric Racing No. 29 machine in 12th fastest in time trials, Madsen went on to pick up a pair of fourth place finishes in heat race action, qualifying him for the Shootout.
Muscling his way to the shootout win, Madsen would line up for the 30-lap feature event on the front row, and he would simply never look back.
Opting to lead the field to the green from the outside starting position, Madsen would be hard on the loud pedal, as he rocketed away from the field, and quickly reeled in slower traffic.
Getting through traffic exceptionally well, a couple of cautions would slow Madsen, but the open track would see him motor away from the field, as he cruised to victory.
“The car was awesome,” Madsen exclaimed. “We made some adjustments after our heat races, and they worked really well. It is awesome to come to Perth (WA) and get a win for the Gavranich family, and get another win in Australia for Dan Ricehouse, and everyone at American Racing.”
