PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard his V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company Backed No. p37 machine for the first time since a vicious accident at the beginning of the month, Matt Peterson made the opening night feature at the Trophy Cup on Thursday night before coming up short of making the final night’s feature on Saturday night.

“I have to thank my dad, Shane, and Lee for all of their hard work, and giving me a good car each night,” Peterson said. “The driver did not do a great job, and we came up a little short of making the Saturday night feature.”

After winning his heat race on Thursday night, Peterson locked into the feature event, though contact in the main saw severe damage to his right-rear wheel, and with no time to fix it, Peterson tried to race with it, but it did not work out, and he ended up finishing 23rd.

With that Thursday night run being his best run out of the two preliminary nights, Peterson took that point total with him to the Saturday night program, where he sat 37th in points heading into heat race action.

Finishing second in his heat race, Peterson gained a few point positions, as he moved up to 35th, but with the invert in the B being 12, Peterson just missed the front row, and found himself starting in the 15th spot, and needing to get up to the top-four to move into the feature event.

On a very racy track during the B Main, the Wilton, CA driver worked around the slicked off surface, as he looked to put on a charge to get to the front of the field.

Peterson would work up to the 11th spot at he finish line, and his 2014 Trophy Cup would come to a close, a little earlier than he had hoped.

“I just made a couple of crucial mistakes that probably were the different of us being 35th or in the B Main inversion, and having a fighting chance of making the A,” Peterson said. “On the bright side, it was great to get back in the car after my wrekc, and all we can do now is get ready to end our season at Stockton in a couple of weeks.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2014.

ON TAP: Peterson will return to action on 11/1 at the Stockton Dirt Track with the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster in what will be their season finale event.
