PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a hard charge at Placerville Speedway one week ago, Tony Gualda’s night got off to a great start until an incident on the opening lap of the feature event turned what looked like a good night into a frustrating ‘DNF’.
“We had good speed all night long, and it felt really good,” Tony Gualda said. “Cody and Darin have been working really hard on this car, and I just hate that a good starting spot was ended up being all for not.”
Timing the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Moorefield Construction machine in third quickest in time trials amongst the 24 other cars that took a time on Saturday night.
Lining up in the second row of the third heat race, the Hollister, CA native would take care of business and finish fourth, putting him solidly in the feature event as well as making him eligible for the Top-Eight redraw.
Drawing the four pill, Gualda would line the PT Shocks/51 Fifty Energy Drink/Pacific Highway Rentals entry up in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.
When the field was shown the green flag, a car in front of Gualda would get out of shape and with nowhere to go, Gualda would become involved in the incident and his night would be over just like that.
“It was frustrating,” Gualda added. “We have been working to get better all year, and then the night where it seems to be going well we get caught up in someone else’s mess. I have to thank this team for continuing to work with me, and get me better every week.”
