PETERSEN MEDIA- Racing in his home state of Indiana over the weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Joey Saldana would pick up a fifth place finish on Friday night at Plymouth Speedway and then back it up with a Top-10 effort on Saturday night at the Tri-State Speedway.

“It is hard to complain about Top-10 and Top-Five finishes, which are good, but there is always room for improvement,” Joey Saldana said. “We had a good car on Friday night, but the driver messed up a restart, and Saturday we were able to move forward a little bit and finish eighth.”

Taking part in the series’ first ever visit to Plymouth Speedway on Friday night, Saldana would time the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine in sixth quickest.

Finishing second in his heat race, the ‘Brownsburg Bullet’ would move into the night’s Dash where the win would put him on the front row of the 30-lap A Main event.

Getting the jump when the race came to life, Saldana would lead the way though he would have series point leader, Brad Sweet hot on his tail. Able to fend him off, Saldana would lead until the caution flew on the ninth circuit.

The ensuing restart would see Saldana get the front wheels off the ground coming to green and it would result in him losing the lead and several more positions. Once he got his machine gathered up, he was back in the third position. Chasing after Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet, Saldana would then have his hands full with David Gravel and Greg Wilson who were both surging from deep in the field.

When the race came to a close, Saldana would end up bring his machine home with a fifth place finish.

Heading to Haubstadt, IN on Saturday night to go to work at the Tri-State Speedway, Saldana’s seventh quick effort in time trials would line him up in the in the second row of his heat race.

Finishing in the third spot, Saldana would find himself in the fifth row for the 40-lap feature event. On the racy bullring, Saldana would pick up a few spots in the early goings of the feature event.

As the laps clicked off he would find himself in a tight battle with Kraig Kinser and Brad Sweet as they jockeyed for position amongst thick traffic. As they swapped position lap after lap, Saldana would close his weekend out with an eighth place finish.

“I really have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for what they provide us week after week,” Saldana said. “We know they want to see their car up front nightly and we want to make sure we keep them happy, so the guys have been working hard and hopefully we can find some success in PA this week.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
