PETERSEN MEDIA- Shawn Wright and his Wright Motorsports team took to the Marysville Raceway and the Silver Dollar Speedway over the weekend, as Wright battled with the stars and cars of the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster.
“We were fortunate to go out early on Saturday night, and put ourselves in a good spot, but on Sunday night we were not as fortunate and that set the tone for our night,” Wright said.
With 43 cars checking in for both Saturday and Sunday night, Wright would get his weekend started by timing the Wright Process Systems/A.R.T./Wilwood No. 99 machine timed in 11th fastest at the Marysville Raceway.
Starting on the front row of his heat, Wright would admittedly make a couple of mistakes in heat race action, though would finish in the third spot, and move into the 30-lap feature event.
From the seventh row, Wright would get into the inside berm on the first lap of the feature event, and bring his machine to a stop. From the back of the pack, the Lodi, CA native turned Tulare, CA resident would race his way back up to a 14th place finish.
Sunday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Wright would be the 36th cars out for time trials, and would end up timing in 32nd fastest, putting him in the fourth row of his heat.
Working into the fifth spot in his heat, Wright would go after Shane Golobic for the final transfer position, but would be unable to get the position, as he was then forced inot the night’s B Main.
Lining up in the eighth row of the B, Wright would get forced off of the race track by another competitor, and would be forced to tag the rear of the field. Frustrated, Wright would work his way back up to the 11th spot, where he would finish and end his weekend.
“I made some mistakes, but was happy with how we timed in, and essentially raced on Saturday night,” he noted. “Sunday night we timed bad, and it was a pretty deep hole for us to get out of.”
