PETERSEN MEDIA: Making a last minute decision to head to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Steven Tiner picked up an eighth place finish on a very fast and hooked up Placerville Speedway.
“We went out early in time trials, and ended up timing in mid-pack, and that put us in a bit of a hole especially with the track staying as fast as it did,” Tiner said.
Going out early in time trials, Tiner would lay down a strong lap, but as the track continued to come in he would slip back to 11th overall on the speed chart.
From the third row of his heat race, the Visalia, CA resident would pick up a fifth place finish aboard his Larry Davis Farms/Wright Process Systems/Deli Delicious No. 94 machine putting him in the fifth row of the feature event.
On a lightening fast surface, Tiner had his work cut out for himself from his 10th starting spot as passing was at an extreme premium on this night. Taking advantage of an early spin by another competitor, Tiner would move into the ninth spot before he took over the eighth spot on a restart.
Trying everything in his arsenal to pick up more track position, Tiner would have to settle for an eighth place finish aboard the Harvest Supply/Powder Coat-It/SRP backed No. 94 machine.
“It really is not that fun racing where everyone is the same speed, and you have to hope for mistakes,” Tiner added. “I have to thank my guys for working hard, and hopefully this weekend we can build on this Top-10.”
