Tanner Carrick 7th at Placerville Speedway’s Regular Season Finale
PETERSEN MEDIA: Checking in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the $10,085-to-win Forni/Humphreys Classic, Tanner Carrick and his team picked up a seventh-place finish in what was the final sprint car race of the year at the speedway.
“We had a decent night, we just really couldn’t get going in the feature,” Tanner Carrick said. “We put ourselves in the redraw and we just maintained for 30-laps.”
A total of 35 cars checked into Placerville Speedway for the highest paying 360ci race ever held at the track, and Carrick got the night started by timing his CVC/Cemex/CA Waterfowl backed No. 83T entry in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight.
With a strong effort, Carrick earned the pole for his heat race, which was vital as a win would qualify him for the redraw. When the green flag was displayed to the Lincoln, CA runner, Carrick smashed the throttle and darted out to the lead.
Racing his way to the win, Carrick was safely in the feature event and also earned that coveted redraw berth where the seven placed him in the fourth row for the 30-lap finale.
When the race went green, Carrick got off to a solid start as he quickly moved into sixth and then moved into fifth on the eighth lap. Going back and forth between fifth and sixth for 15 laps, Carrick finally settled into sixth on the 20th lap.
Continuing to look for a way back into the Top-Five as the race neared the finish, a misstep on the 28th lap saw Carrick slip back to seventh where he went on to take the checkered flag.
“We just needed to be a little better for the feature, but happy to be in the Top-10,” Carrick said. “It has been a really busy few weeks, so I definitely want to thank my guys for continuing to work hard.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, California Waterfowl, Interstate Oil, D.R. Horton, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, TC Guide Service, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
