Andy Forsberg 9th to Open High Limit Swing

PETERSEN MEDIA: Shifting his focus to the High Limit Racing swing through northern California, Andy Forsberg got the two week stretch off to a solid start on Saturday night in Placerville, CA as he recorded a 10th place finish with the national series.

“It was kind of funny, I felt really good in hot laps and qualifying but the timing and scoring didn’t agree with how I felt and we were very slow,” Andy Forsberg said. “Luckily I got my act together in our heat race and went from sixth to third and put ourselves in a much better spot in the feature event.”

With 40 cars checked in at Placerville Speedway for the series’ lone visit to the track of the year, Forsberg timed the Meridian Cameras/PHR/Oroville Tax backed no. 92 entry in 11th fastest in his qualifying flight and with the split session that placed the Auburn, CA driver in the third row of his heat race.

With the cool weather keeping the track in good shape, Forsberg found some moisture in his heat and it aided his charge forward. Getting by the likes of Gio Scelzi, Sye Lynch, and Cory Eliason, Forsberg worked his way to a third-place finish which placed him in the 14th starting spot for the 35-lap feature event.

From the outside of the seventh row, Forsberg took a liking to the high side of the speedway as he began to work his way forward. Racing into ninth by the 11th lap, a caution bunched the field back up and the ensuing restart was not kind to the Auburn, CA driver.

When the action resumed, Forsberg was trapped on the bottom and lost every spot he gained in the opening 10 laps as he fell back to 14th.

As laps clicked off, Forsberg was able to slowly race his way back into the Top-10 as he took the 10th spot over on the 27th marker.

A final restart with two laps to go played into Forsberg’s favor as he was able to grab another position and cap his night off with a ninth-place finish.

“We definitely have to find some more speed before Gold Cup,’ Andy Forsberg said. “Placerville is a tricky place for a lot of the National guys, but Chico is a place quite a few of them are comfortable at, and we will need to be even better to contend.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, MCK, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-35, Wins-8, Top 5’s-21, Top 10’s-25

ON TAP: Andy Forsberg and the PHR team are set for the 71st annual Gold Cup in Chico, CA. They will be in action in 360ci action on Wednesday night and then return to High Limit action on Thursday and Saturday.
