Part Issue Derails Andy Forsberg at Placerville Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg was well in the hunt for his 9th feature event win of the season until a driveline issue on the 10th lap ended his night abruptly.
“After last week’s antics, the crew did a great job of getting a new car together for Saturday night, and we were really good,” Andy Forsberg said. “In nine laps we had jumped out to a really healthy lead but something in the rearend went south and it ended our night unfortunately.”
With 23 cars checked into the Placerville Speedway pit area for a night of regular season points action, Forsberg timed the Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax/Meridian Cameras backed No. 92 mount in fourth fastest.
Needing to win his heat race for the redraw, Forsberg nailed the start and drove away from the field. Picking up the win, he was locked into the redraw where the one pill placed him on the front row of the 25-lap feature event.
When the feature event came to life, Forsberg was hard on the throttle as he jumped into the lead and quickly reeled in the rear of the field. Getting into traffic in just mere laps, Forsberg wasted no time putting cars a lap down.
Continuing to stretch out his lead, issues on lap 10 saw the Auburn, CA driver slow and bring out the race’s first caution. Getting assistance to the pit area, Forsberg bypassed the work area and his night was officially over.
“It was a bummer, because we had a really good car,” Forsberg said. “The DNF definitely tightened up the points battle with just two point shows left so it should be really exciting to end the season at Placerville Speedway.”
